  1. Setting: Train Station in Tokyo

Qualities: provides an array of different locations surrounding and involved in the train station, symbolizes a place that is related to travel (people only go to the train station to leave for a destination), the map represents a key to traveling because passengers need to know where they are going, the pictures seemed to be in chronological order starting with the ticket booth and ending inside the train itself.

  2. The three pictures I would pick out are the ticket booth, the inside of the train, and the keeper of the trains. Each of these pictures with a little more detail could show a good representation of the Canterbury Tales' setting. The keeper of the trains shows the viewer that the setting has a central narrator who instructs the entire story. The ticket booth proves that multiple people are involved in the story because it a place all people have to go through in order to get on the train. The inside of the train with the benches and multiple chairs serves as a meeting place for the travelers. If he included some sort of lodging such as hammocks or bunk-beds, the setting would be even more of a representation. The colors are vague but could be enhanced to help each element in the pictures stick out more. The use of bright, vivid colors is best. I know this is only a draft, but he could spend some time making the drawings more descriptive with cleaner lines and segments. I really liked how in some of the pictures he attempted to make the scenes seem three-dimensional with the horizon effect.

  3. Setting: Train Station in Tokyo
The train station represents the tavern because all different types of people go to train stations. The conductor fits very well into the story because he leads all of the people on the train and he tells everyone what to do just like the host in the Canterbury Tales.

Overall, I think this is a really good idea. Some things to improve would be to clean up the pictures a little. The pictures I would pick would be the first one of the ticket station, the one of the conductor, and the one of the inside of the train. These symbolize the meeting place, the traveling and the host directing the stories.

  4. I think its a pretty good idea but i think that the pictures are a little bit unclear and of the pictures Id have to agree with Thomas that the ones that stand out are that of the station, the conductor and the inside the train.
